Yes, you sure can... I am headed back to Utah, was there for 4 weeks and tried to go to Sills a few times a week. Now from Ca.. heading home to Iowa..stopping at Sisters to rest and I know the first place I am hitting.. Sills... My favorite place to eat.. scones yummm, coffee is good, breakfast, the bacon is great and cooked just right. The biscuits and gravy, yumm again.. What ever you order your never disappointed and always leave with a to go container.. be it lunch or what ever... The prices are great too ... my sister kids me, says I visit just to go to Sills for the scones.. lol..
Black Bear diner has a better dinner selection but I agree with the other comments that the breakfast food tastes better at Sills.
Any time. They have a great chicken fried steak and eggs too!
Nope
What? Lol wow
So for those wondering.... sills is closed today. Came to the restaurant and they didn't even have closed sign or hours of operation for the holiday sign. Sad to see that a great breakfast restaurant with many customers can't put a simple sign or communicate their holiday hours of operation.
If I remember right just under $3 and well worth it.
Since Christmas is onna Sunday i would assume they would be closed
I have not been here since they moved years ago. Boy have I been missing out. Our service was great and the food was good old home cooking. I really like the scones! I will be back for them. The country gravy is now on my fav list. Bacon. This place is highly recommend.
Wow. Was not expecting that. Best scone on the planet the staff was cheery and greeted us and made us feel right at home. A hidden gem in Layton. Overwhelming popular Hard to find home town places like this anymore. Staff was awesome. Can’t say enough
We love Sill's. Breakfast served all day. The servers are friendly and make the experience pleasurable.
Every time we come back to Utah to visit family, we make sure to stop in for breakfast at Sill's. You have standard dishes like pancakes and omelettes, and you have some Utah specific dishes like SOS. Above all else, this place is known for their scones. These are not British scones - they are more like Navajo fry bread served with honey butter. On my last 2-week visit I put on about 30 lb, and most of it was due to repeated visits to Sill's with two or three scones per visit. (They're huge, by the way.) You have to try at least one.
Absolutely love this place! Old Time Cafe fell, huge portions, amazing prices, and very friendly, courteous, and helpful staff members! Highly recommend! 5⭐s!
Great breakfast food! The biscuits and gravy were amazing. Will definitely go back and recommend it to anyone.
Great, home cooked breakfasts.I had scrambled eggs with cheese, hash browns with s-o-s - outstanding!Service was great, friendly and professional. They served a pastry-bread the size of a manhole cover with amazing honey butter that I could not stop eating.Highly recommend Sill's! Word of warning - bring your hunger.Coffee was excellent!
If you don't already know about Sill's then you better find out!
Watery mashed potatoes, over cooked vegetables and Salisbury steak was pretty much flavorless
Absolutely amazing food. The staff is awesome. There was one time that my family went there and our son was having a meltdown and we had just ordered drinks and then ordered our food but haven't received it yet and we had to leave and the server was super understanding and sweet about it and not upset at all. The scones are to die for definitely a craving. Will always go here! The only change I would make is the seating. I will definitely have somebody be seating because there of been times where people have been so rude and have said some pretty nasty things about us because we got there before them and sat down before them.
The breakfast are awesome and then the scones. Yes,please.
Sills has an amazing breakfast! This place is a really classic, efficient diner with speedy service and hearty portions. Try anything with the SOS gravy!Don't come here with large groups or very young children. The seating process is chaotic and managed by the people waiting (not the wait staff). Tables are tight and space is limited.
Huge portions, food made fresh. There scones are the size of a dinner plate - ask for the honey butter on the side, unless you like SWIMMING in butter. The mixed vegetables served on the side of dinner were overcooked, but the meat is cooked nicely. Try their Engish chips! Yum. This is NOT a place to go if you're on a diet. Lol
Good place to eat. Great food and service.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this place. My husband and I were looking for a good breakfast, but it was late and most places were closed. We found Sill's on a search and decided to give it a try. I'm SO glad we did. We have been searching for a place like this forever! Amazing service and food, inclusive hours, casual and comfortable. I was especially a fan of their delicious pancakes!! We will be back many times in the future!
Amazing staff. Amazing food. Great portions and price!
This was my first time here and it was very good! I had the breakfast sandwich with bacon and it was delicious. And the scone was to die for! I loved all the cool things to look at on the walls. Entertaining and old home feel. I would come back again.
The scones here are amazing. $3 for a scone that fills your plate with amazing honey butter on top.
Really good food! Fair prices, fun environment. The scones and fritters are delicious and huge. Only complaint is that it gets packed pretty often and there not enough waiting area. Lots of people end up standing outside
Didnt hate it...just poor service...food ho hum
I got the chicken fried steak but the star of the show was the scone. It is more like a funnel cake than anything else but it is delicious. The chicken fried steak was pretty standard like what you would get at most diners.
Great breakfast: super hot and tasty coffee, some of the best gravy I have had in while. The gravy has a minimal spice to bolster the flavor and sage heavy without being overbearing. The scones are a must.
My family & I have gone here for years even since I was a baby we went to the older location. Me and my friends went the other day and it was great. Will always enjoy the coziness and nice atmosphere.
Amazing food!! Went here with my girlfriend for our 4 months and it was fantastic, awesome service and fantastic food!! Sill's is my new obsession and one of my favorite places to go now. 10/10 wpuld recommend!
I absolutely love this place. I've ended up coming here every morning this week to grab a scone before school, and I think I'm addicted! Nice, friendly atmosphere, and good food with large portion sizes.
We had a great time here. Food was delicious & came out incredibly quick for a super packed restaurant! Mini omelets were outstanding & you can't go without trying the cinnamon rolls! Food coma for sure!
I have been going here for years now. The last two times my take out order has been awful. The first time they forgot items completely. Today I ordered some hash browns and the potatoes were raw. Absolutely raw. Hardly cooked.I'm really disappointed in Sills lately. Might have to choose a new breakfast joint unfortunately.
This is located on Gentile St. Just East of Main St. The food was good and our server was friendly. However, we were put in a waiting list, told it'll be about a20min wait and they're call us. We waited in our car for almost 30min before deciding to walk back inside. They forgot to call us! Waitress stated we'd get a discount, which she didn't give us. Scones- could've been fluffier. Criddles Cafe still rules on scones.Egg Sandwich- bread should've been toasted and asked how we'd like our egg cooked.Fries- made from fresh potatoesSOS gravy and hash browns- good flavor We'd go back and give it another try though.
This was a pleasant surprise on our road trip. The Scones were out of this world! Definitely get one! I honestly don't see how you could go wrong with this place..
Bring an appetite. HUGE servings. Tasty food. Outstanding service. Short wait on Sunday.
This place is awesome. I got the scone with honey butter and the post office breakfast. There was so much food I couldn't get through half of it! But it was also really, really good too. The staff was great, I appreciated how well they all seem to get along and still be super attentive to guest needs. I bet it's a fun place to work. I will definitely be back!
We stopped at Sill’s while passing through town for a quick bite and to recharge. We were able to sit right away and the food came out super fast. Everything was delicious! Would return in a heartbeat.
Amazing food. Amazing service. Even in a packed house they make you feel loved. And welcome. I will be bringing my daughter there and more friends. So worth it!
The ultimate greasy spoon cafe. Great prices and nice staff!
Great America diner. Generous portions for the price
Decent food and if you get there early before 8am you get right in.
Best breakfast in town. I drive all the way from South Salt Lake just to have their scones with honey butter. Very cheaply priced and the portions are very large. I've never had anything I didn't love here. The wait staff are very attentive and kind. Would highly recommend this place, however it does get very busy on Saturday and Sundays. Worth the wait.
The portions were huge and for a very very good price the stones were huge and the best I've had in a long time
this is one of those local gems that you can only find if you ask someone that lives in the local area. we asked where to go for breakfast during our meeting and everyone said the same thing, Sill's Cafe. they were not wrong!
They have great food and nice portions. I got the fish sandwich with English chips ($6.50 for the sandwich and $1.00 extra for English chips instead of fries) and my friend got one of their breakfast combos with a scone.
Hands down mine and my husband's favorite place to eat! Good homestyle cooking at it's finest! It's a busy place, but the staff is always friendly! It's a seat-yourself setup, so be prepared for a wait if you need a table or booth (it's a very popular place among the locals). It's not as pricey as other diners, and you get plenty of food for what you pay! Be sure to grab a scone and honey butter!
Everything was awesome. Lots of food for the price and the best thing there very friendly.
We had the Salisbury steak with a salad and vegetables, it was fabulous. I had the Chicken fried steak and it was the best I have had. Tasted like it was made fresh, soft but firm on inside, crispy outside and great tasting breading. The sauce was flavorful and.just the right consistency as well as no salt taste like you get at a lot of places To top it off we had an awesome scene to finish our meal. The wait staff was nice and attentive and not overbearing.Great place and is worth going out of your way to Layton.
Food is great as always... Glad you're open to dine in again. The wait wasn't too bad.
This is a great place for down home cooking. It's also a great place for all day breakfast. They make many of their dishes from scratch. They serve such favorites as S. O. S. and homemade scones with honey butter. Judging from the amount of people in the restaurant, and we were there at 3 p.m., it is a local favorite!
Went here with a friend to catch up after the Mission. The food was great, it’s got a lovely home-diner-atmosphere, and they’ve got wel places COVID precautions for a fun dine in. Definitely would go back! The Scones are to die for!!!
I don't understand why so many people like this place. The scones were okay, the honey butter wasn't sweet enough, the hashbrowns were overcooked and the chicken friend steak and gravy were bland. I've eaten better food at chain restaurants. I had such high hopes from all the rave reviews.
Awesome service. Have ate breakfast there 2 sunday mornings in a row. It's so good. The scones are killer. So you gotta try 1 or 2. Will definitely be back
The cook was spot on today. The meal was excellent. The waitress was awesome!
I can't say enough about this local institution. The food is amazing...and the size of their pancakes is incredible! Oh...and the scones are superb. The staff is friendly. Come in hungry, leave completely stuffed. On the weekends, be prepared for a bit of a wait. That's because Sill's is know for serving up the good stuff.
